Trg Republike: Split's Venetian Veranda

Trg Republike, or Republic Square, is one of Split's most iconic landmarks, serving as a vibrant gathering place for locals and tourists. The design closely resembles St. Mark's Square in Venice, a deliberate choice by the architect, who was from Venice and longed for his home. Look closely at the colonnades; the left side features carved reliefs beneath the windows, while the right side remains unfinished, a testament to the architect's homesickness.Today, Trg Republike is a lively center of activity.
