Located near the village of Lagun, this heritage building stands as a reminder of the island's colonial era and the events that shaped its identity.The plantation dates back to 1693, when the West India Company issued the lands of Knip. The original 18th-century country house was rebuilt in 1830, giving the exterior a 19th-century character. The manor's traditional layout, featuring a core area surrounded by galleries, is typical of Curaçao's country houses.Manor Knip holds a significant place in Curaçao's history as the starting point of the 1795 slave revolt, led by the freedom fighter Tula. This pivotal event is commemorated annually on August 17th, honoring Tula's fight for freedom. In 2005, the manor was converted into the Tula Museum, showcasing the plantation and slave history of Curaçao. Although the museum has been closed for a few years, it is expected to reopen.Visitors can explore the grounds and admire the architectural details of the building, as well as the breathtaking panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea.
