Discover more about Boka Pistol

Boka Pistol, situated in Shete Boka National Park, is one of Curaçao's most dramatic natural attractions. The name 'Pistol' comes from the powerful blowhole effect created when waves crash into the narrow inlet, forcing water to shoot upwards with explosive force, resembling a pistol shot. Visitors can witness this awe-inspiring phenomenon from a viewing platform, feeling the refreshing sea breeze and hearing the thunderous roar of the ocean. The sheer power of nature is on full display as the waves relentlessly pound the coastline. The surrounding landscape features rugged limestone cliffs and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, providing a stunning backdrop for this natural spectacle. Shete Boka National Park was established in 1994 to protect the island's important sea turtle nesting sites. While Boka Pistol itself doesn't have a beach for nesting, the park's other bokas (inlets) provide crucial habitats for these endangered creatures. The park encompasses approximately 2,600 acres (1,500 acres) of coastline, offering hiking trails and viewpoints to explore the unique geology and diverse marine life. Keep an eye out for the local goats grazing nearby.
