Public Transport

From Limassol, take bus number 16 from the Limassol Central Bus Station (Old Port Bus Station) towards Kourion Beach. The bus ride takes approximately 30-40 minutes. From the bus stop in Episkopi, walk approximately 1.5 kilometers (about 20 minutes) towards the amphitheater, following the signs. A single bus ticket costs €2.

Taxis are readily available in Limassol. Inform the driver you wish to go to the Kourion Ancient Amphitheater in Episkopi. The journey takes about 20 minutes, depending on traffic. The estimated taxi fare from Limassol to Episkopi is around EUR 22.00.
Car

From Limassol, drive west on the A1 highway towards Paphos. Take the exit towards Episkopi and follow the signs to Kourion. The amphitheater will be on your left. There is a parking area available at the site. Parking fees, if applicable, are minimal.

The Kourion Ancient Amphitheater, located near Episkopi, Cyprus, is a testament to the island's rich history and cultural heritage. Constructed in the late 2nd century BC, the theater has undergone several transformations, including a remodeling in the 2nd century AD when it was briefly used for wild animal fights. Its prime location on the southern edge of a steep hill offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea, making it a significant landmark. Originally, the theater consisted of a semicircular orchestra surrounded by seats carved into the cavea. The stage was flanked by two vaulted corridors, known as parodoi, serving as entrances for the audience. The theater could accommodate up to 3,500 spectators. In the 3rd century AD, modifications were made to transform the theater into an arena for wild animal fights, but it was later restored to its original purpose. Excavations at Kourion began in 1933, revealing the theater's historical significance. Today, the Kourion Ancient Amphitheater hosts various cultural events, especially during the summer months, including the International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama. Visitors can explore the ancient architecture and enjoy the stunning views. The site is partially accessible for people with disabilities, and a car park is available nearby.
