    From Larnaca, take the A3 highway towards Limassol. After approximately 25 km, take Exit 46 towards Kalavasos. Follow the road towards Kalavasos and the signs for the Archaeological Site of Tenta. Free parking is available near the site. Note that taxi fare from Larnaca to Kalavasos is estimated to be between €45-€55.

  • Public Transport

    From Larnaca, take the Intercity Buses service towards Limassol and get off at the Choirokoitia Neolithic Settlement stop. From there, it's approximately 2.5km to the site. Consider a taxi for the final leg. The bus ticket from Larnaca to Choirokoitia costs between €3-€5. A taxi from Choirokoitia to the site may cost an additional small fee.

The Archaeological Site of Tenta, also known as Kalavasos-Tenta, offers a captivating glimpse into Cyprus's ancient past. This Aceramic Neolithic settlement, dating back to 7000-6000 BC, is situated on a small, naturally defensible hill overlooking the Vasilikos River. The site reveals the transition from nomadic lifestyles to settled agricultural societies, marking one of the earliest permanent human settlements on the island. Excavations at Tenta have unearthed circular buildings constructed from stone and mud-bricks, providing valuable insights into the architecture and daily life of the early inhabitants. The site is protected by a characteristic cone-shaped roof, a contemporary architectural intervention that preserves the ancient remains. According to local tradition, the name 'Tenta' originates from 327 AD, when St. Helen, the mother of Constantine the Great, stayed in a tent ('tenta') at this location during her visit to the island. Visitors can explore the well-preserved remains, view informative displays, and appreciate the historical significance of this site, which was settled for nearly three thousand years. Artifacts recovered from Tenta are displayed at the Larnaca Museum.
