Nestled within the Troodos National Forest Park, the Troodos Botanical Garden 'A.G. Leventis' offers a serene escape into the heart of Cyprus's unique flora. Situated at an altitude of 1,400 meters, this botanical garden showcases the diverse plant life of the Troodos mountain range, including common, rare, and endangered species. Established in 2004 and opened in 2010, the garden serves as a vital conservation and education center, promoting the botanical heritage of Cyprus. Visitors can explore thematic sections such as endemic plants, riverine vegetation, an arboretum, and aromatic and traditional garden plants. With its visitor center, herbarium, and picturesque landscapes, the Troodos Botanical Garden provides a refreshing and informative experience for nature enthusiasts of all ages. Driving
From Troodos Square, head east on the main road towards Pano Amiantos. Follow the signs for approximately 8 kilometers. The drive takes about 10-15 minutes. Parking is available near the garden entrance. Note that road conditions can be variable, especially during winter; check local forecasts. Parking is free.
Public Transport
From Limassol, take bus route 64 towards Troodos. The bus departs from the Germasogeia tourist zone and passes through various villages before reaching Troodos Square. From Troodos Square, transfer to a local bus heading towards Pano Amiantos, or walk approximately 6km (allow 1.5 - 2 hours). Check local bus schedules for accurate timings as services may be infrequent. A single bus fare from Limassol to Troodos Square is approximately €4-€6. The local bus from Troodos Square to Pano Amiantos, if available, will cost around €2-€3.
Walking
If you are already hiking in the Troodos National Forest Park, follow marked trails towards Pano Amiantos. From the village, the garden is a signposted walk of approximately 15 minutes. Ensure you have a map and sufficient water, especially during warmer months. The walk from Troodos square is approximately 6km.
