Troodos Geopark Visitor Centre: A Geological Journey

The Troodos Geopark Visitor Centre, nestled in the Troodos Mountains near Pano Amiantos, offers an immersive experience into the geological heart of Cyprus. Housed in the beautifully restored former elementary school of the Amiantos asbestos mine, the center serves as a gateway to understanding the region's unique geological significance and natural beauty. The Troodos Mountains are home to one of the most complete and well-preserved ophiolite sequences in the world: the Troodos Ophiolite. This geological formation, representing a section of ancient oceanic crust and upper mantle, was uplifted through tectonic processes, offering a rare opportunity to study the Earth's deep structure.
