The Neolithic Settlement of Choirokoitia, located in the Larnaca district of Cyprus, offers a captivating glimpse into the island's prehistoric past. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998, it stands as one of the most important and well-preserved settlements of the Neolithic Age in the Eastern Mediterranean. Occupied from around 7000 BC to 5000 BC, the settlement provides invaluable insights into the daily lives and cultural practices of the early inhabitants of Cyprus. The village, situated on the slopes of a hill within the Maroni River valley, comprised closely packed circular houses constructed from mudbrick and stone. These dwellings, often arranged around a central courtyard, reflect a communal and organized society. Replicas of household objects offer a tangible connection to the past, while the surrounding vegetation showcases plant species native to Cyprus since Neolithic times. The site's significance lies not only in its preservation but also in its role as a bridge between the cultures of the Near East and Europe.
