Getting there

Public Transport

From Nissi Beach, walk to the nearest bus stop on Nissi Avenue. Take bus number 101 or 102 towards Ayia Napa. Get off at the 'Makronissos' bus stop, a ride of approximately 10-15 minutes. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to the viewpoint, following signs to Makronissos Beach. A single ticket costs around €2.

Walking

If starting near Nissi Beach, you can walk to the Makronissos viewpoint. Head northwest along the beach promenade towards Makronissos Beach. The walk is approximately 2 kilometers and takes about 30-40 minutes. This scenic route along the coastal path is free.

Car

From Nissi Beach, head northwest on Nissi Avenue towards the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Makronissos Avenue and continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Makronissos Beach. Free parking is available near the viewpoint, but it may be limited during peak times. Paid parking is also available nearby.

Overview

Makronissos Viewpoint, situated in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, provides a captivating escape with breathtaking views of the azure Mediterranean Sea. The hiking area is known for its well-marked trails suitable for all experience levels. As you ascend, take in the unique flora and fauna of this coastal region, a habitat for various bird species. Photographers will find the changing views throughout the day rewarding, especially during sunrise or sunset.The viewpoint is near the Makronissos Tombs, an ancient necropolis dating back to the Hellenistic and Roman periods. The tombs consist of 19 rock-cut structures, a small sanctuary, and the remains of a quarry. The deceased were placed in clay sarcophagi, and the architecture of the tombs is consistent, featuring a stairway to a rectangular entrance and benches along the sides.Makronissos Beach, actually a trio of golden bays, is also nearby, offering a more laid-back atmosphere than the beaches closer to Ayia Napa's center.
