Getting There

  • Walking

    From the main entrance of the Tombs of the Kings, head west on Tombs of the Kings Road. Continue straight for about 1 km until you reach a roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Poseidonos Avenue. After approximately 500 meters, turn left onto a smaller side street. Continue along this road until you see a sign for Tomb 7 on your right. The entrance is marked and easily accessible. There is no cost for walking.

    To reach Tomb 7 via public transport, take bus line 615 from the Paphos Harbour area towards the Tombs of the Kings. Disembark at the 'Tombs of the Kings' stop. From there, follow the walking directions provided. The bus fare is approximately €2.00 for a single journey.

  • Car

    If driving from the Tombs of the Kings parking lot, head west on Tombs of the Kings Road. Continue for about 1 km, then take a left at the roundabout onto Poseidonos Avenue. After about 500 meters, turn left onto a side street where you will see signs for Tomb 7. Parking is available near the entrance. Parking prices in Paphos vary by zone, with rates around €1 per 0.5-3 hours depending on the location. Some parking areas offer free parking.

Tomb 7 is a captivating historical landmark in Paphos, Cyprus, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore an ancient burial site. This underground tomb, carved into the rock, showcases the impressive funerary architecture of the Hellenistic period.As you enter Tomb 7, you're greeted by what was originally an atrium surrounded by four porticoes. Access to the tomb is through a long dromos, or passageway, which was originally covered. Seven steps lead down to a corridor that opens into the damaged eastern portico. The design includes loculi and ossuaries on both sides of the dromos, which were used to store bones when the tombs were reused. Four Doric columns originally supported each side of the porticoes. The entablature, particularly the triglyphs and metopes, remains in excellent condition, though only three of the four columns in the western portico still stand.Directly opposite the entrance is the main burial chamber, featuring five loculi and four ossuaries. The entrance to this chamber retains exquisite relief decoration. A second burial chamber connects to the northern portico through an opening adorned with an intricately carved door frame. Like the first chamber, this one is vaulted and contains several loculi and an ossuary. Part of the plaster that originally covered the walls of the porticoes, particularly on the west side, is still visible. A well is situated in the southeastern corner beneath the south portico.After its use as a funerary monument ended, the complex was converted into a place of Christian worship before being used as a sheepfold. Tomb 7 provides an enriching experience for those who appreciate history and archaeology.
