Getting There

  • Driving

    From Limassol, take the road towards Saittas. Then, follow the road towards Kato Amiantos. Look for signs indicating the waterfall and park your car near the main road. Alternatively, from Troodos Square, follow the B8 road towards Paphos for approximately 2 kilometers. Look for a sign indicating Mesa Potamos Falls and turn left onto a smaller road. Keep driving for about 1 kilometer until you reach the parking area for the falls. Parking is free and readily available near the picnic site.

  • Public Transport

    From Limassol, take bus 64 towards Troodos. Get off at the Troodos Square bus stop. From there, you can either walk (2 kilometers, mostly downhill) or take a taxi to Mesa Potamos Falls. A taxi from Troodos Square to the falls will cost approximately €10-€15. The bus fare from Limassol to Troodos is approximately €5-€7.

  • Walking

    If you're already in the Troodos area, you can opt for a scenic hike to Mesa Potamos Falls. Start from the Troodos Visitor Center and follow the marked trails towards the falls. The hike is approximately 2 km one way and offers beautiful views of the surrounding forest. Allow for about 1-1.5 hours to reach the falls at a leisurely pace.

Mesa Potamos Falls, also known as Mesapotamos, is a hidden gem located in the Limassol District of Cyprus, within the Troodos mountain range. The name “Mesa Potamos” means 'Middle River' in Greek, referencing its position among the network of streams and rivers crisscrossing the Troodos slopes. Tucked away in the verdant folds of the Troodos Mountains, this natural sanctuary remains blissfully untouched by mass tourism.The waterfall itself is approximately 7 meters (23 feet) high. The water tumbles over a dark, moss-covered rock wall into a shallow, cool pool, creating a scene worthy of a fairytale. The surrounding vegetation is lush and vibrant, with towering pine trees, golden oaks, and plane trees creating a tapestry of colors and textures.The short trail to Mesa Potamos Falls begins near the Mesa Potamos picnic area and is about 200 meters long. The path meanders through a pine and oak forest, with fresh scents of wild herbs and the gentle rustle of leaves underfoot. The trail is mostly downhill and can get pretty steep in some places. Along the way, you'll pass by smaller waterfalls and scenery that's definitely worth seeing.Spring and early summer (March to June) are arguably the best times to visit Mesa Potamos. The waterfall flows most vigorously during these months thanks to snowmelt from the surrounding mountains. Autumn (September–November) is another great option, offering golden foliage and fewer crowds.
