Situated 42 kilometers northwest of Limassol, in the Krassohoria wine region, the village sits at an altitude of 800 meters in the Troodos Mountains. The village's history dates back to the Byzantine era or early Frankish rule. It is believed that Omodos was formed after the settlements of Pano and Kato Koupetra dissolved. The village's name has several possible origins, including the Cypriot word "modos" (meaning "careful"), the many streets ('odos' in Greek) that originate from the village, or a feudal lord named Homodeus. Key attractions include the Monastery of the Holy Cross, the cobbled village square, old stone houses, local wineries, and a medieval wine press. Visitors can explore the Monastery of the Holy Cross, wander through the narrow streets, visit local shops, and sample Cypriot cuisine in the village's traditional tavernas and cafes.
