Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by heading to the town of Žacléř, which is a popular entry point to the Eagle Mountains. From Žacléř, take the road towards the village of Nová Ves v Horách. Follow local road signs leading to Nová Ves. Once you reach the village, continue driving towards the marked hiking trail parking area. There is a small parking fee, roughly CZK 50, which you can pay at the automated machine. After parking, follow the marked hiking trail towards Medvědí skála, which is approximately a 30-minute hike.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, your journey begins at the nearest train or bus station, which is in the town of Trutnov. From Trutnov, take a bus to Žacléř. Buses run several times a day, and the ticket typically costs around CZK 50. Once in Žacléř, switch to a local bus heading towards Nová Ves v Horách. After arriving in Nová Ves, you will need to walk approximately 20 minutes to the designated hiking trail that leads to Medvědí skála. Be sure to check the local bus schedules ahead of time, as they may vary on weekends and holidays.

• Hiking

  If you are already within the Eagle Mountains and prefer hiking, you can access Medvědí skála from various surrounding trails. Make your way to the nearest marked hiking path. Follow the signs indicating Medvědí skála; the hike should take around 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your starting point. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry water, as the trail may be steep and uneven in places.
