Car
From Palava, head northwest on the D2 motorway towards Brno. After approximately 45 km, merge onto the D1 motorway towards Prague. Continue on the D1 for about 170 km. Take exit 1 towards Prague 1 and follow the signs for Hradčany. There is street parking available around the castle, but be prepared for parking fees which can vary from 40 CZK to 60 CZK per hour. Note that parking is limited, so arriving early is recommended.
Public Transportation
To reach Prague Castle from Palava using public transport, take a train from the nearest station (usually Mikulov) to Prague Main Station (Praha Hlavní Nádraží). The train journey takes about 2.5 hours. Once at Prague Main Station, take Metro line C (Red Line) towards Letňany and change at Muzeum station to Metro line A (Green Line) towards Nemocnice Motol. Get off at Malostranská station. From there, you can either walk (about 20 minutes) uphill to the castle or take tram 22 towards Bílá Hora and get off at Pražský hrad stop. Tram tickets cost approximately 40 CZK and are valid for 75 minutes.
