The Muzeum Památníku Jana Žižky z Trocnova, located in the village of Trocnov near Borovany, stands as a tribute to Jan Žižka, one of the most renowned figures in Czech history. Born in Trocnov around 1360, Žižka became a celebrated military leader of the Hussite movement, a religious reform movement that significantly impacted the history of Bohemia. The memorial complex includes a museum with exhibits dedicated to Žižka's life, military strategies, and the Hussite wars. Visitors can explore artifacts, historical documents, and interactive displays that provide context to 15th-century Bohemia. The museum is housed in the original farmyard of the Borovany monastery. Beyond the museum, the complex features a 4 km educational trail that winds through the historical landscape. The trail leads past the foundations of Žižka's family estate, a 13-meter granite monument of the leader, and the supposed location of his birth. The trail also includes Mikšův Manor and the dam of Horní Rybník. The site is considered a National Cultural Monument of the Czech Republic. **Note:** As of July 2025, the museum building is temporarily closed for the construction of a new visitor center, with a planned reopening on April 1, 2026. However, the Archeoskanzen Trocnov (an open-air museum) remains open to visitors.
