The Corpus Christi Chapel, situated near the impressive St. Barbara's Cathedral in Kutná Hora, is a testament to the town's rich history and architectural heritage. Constructed in the late 14th century, the chapel was originally conceived as a two-story cemetery chapel with an ossuary, intended to house human remains and host church services for the deceased. However, the upper floor was never completed, and the chapel's purpose evolved over time.Following the abolishment of the Jesuit order in 1773, the chapel transitioned through various private owners and uses, including serving as a storehouse and an organ workshop. By the mid-20th century, the chapel had fallen into disrepair, landing it on the list of the world's 100 most endangered monuments in the 1990s. A meticulous reconstruction between 1997 and 2000, supported by the city and the Ministry of Culture, saved the chapel.Today, the Corpus Christi Chapel stands as a remarkable example of High Gothic architecture, featuring one of the few completely preserved interiors of its kind in the Czech Republic.
