Discover more about Rehoboth Art League

The Rehoboth Art League, established in 1938, stands as a cornerstone of the arts community in coastal Delaware. Founded by Louise Corkran in Henlopen Acres, it began as a haven where artists could gather, teach, and showcase their work. Today, the RAL continues its mission to inspire and educate through art, boasting over 1,000 members and reaching over 25,000 community members annually. Located on a historic 3.5-acre campus, the RAL offers a rich tapestry of artistic experiences. Visitors can explore diverse exhibitions featuring a wide range of mediums and styles. The League hosts over 20 solo and group exhibitions each year, showcasing both established and emerging artists. Beyond exhibitions, the RAL provides extensive educational opportunities, with over 150 classes offered annually in traditional art forms like painting, drawing, and pottery, as well as contemporary techniques. The RAL's impact extends beyond its campus through its Visual Arts Outreach program. This initiative brings arts education to underserved communities throughout Southern Delaware, serving children, individuals with developmental disabilities, and senior citizens. Special events like the Annual Cottage Tour and the Outdoor Fine Art Show draw thousands to the area, further enriching the cultural landscape. The Rehoboth Art League encourages artists and arts education, and sponsors exhibits and programs that reflect the diversity of the community in an historic setting and in partnership with other organizations. The Peter Marsh House, built in 1743, is a historical building on the Rehoboth Art League's property. The house remained in the Marsh family for over a century before being sold to the Dodd family in 1871. The Dodds then sold the property to Colonel Wilbur Corkran and his wife, Louise Chambers Corkran, in the late 1920s. Louise Corkran founded the Rehoboth Art League on the property in 1938.
