Getting There

• Car

  From Delaware Seashore State Park, head northwest on Coastal Highway (DE-1 N) for approximately 14 miles. Merge onto I-295 N towards Wilmington. Continue for about 7 miles and then take the exit for DE-9 S towards New Castle. Follow DE-9 S for about 10 miles until you reach Delaware City. Once in Delaware City, continue onto Clinton Street, and the entrance to Fort Delaware State Park will be on your left at 45 Clinton St. Note that parking is available at the park entrance.

• Public Transportation

  Using public transportation, start by taking a DART First State bus from the nearest bus stop in Delaware Seashore State Park (check the DART schedule for exact routes). You will need to transfer buses to reach Wilmington or New Castle. Once you arrive at the Wilmington Transit Center, take the DART bus 1 or 10 towards Delaware City. Get off at the stop nearest to Clinton Street. From there, it's a short walk to Fort Delaware State Park located at 45 Clinton St. Be sure to check the DART schedule for bus times and any applicable fares.

• Ferry

  If you prefer a scenic route, you can take the ferry from Pennsville, NJ, to Fort Delaware State Park. From Delaware Seashore State Park, drive to Pennsville (approximately 20 miles). The ferry leaves from the Pennsville Terminal and takes you directly to Fort Delaware, providing an enjoyable view of the surrounding waters. Be aware that ferry tickets are required, and you should check the ferry schedule in advance to plan your visit accordingly.
