From Portsmouth, NH, head south on US-1 Bypass and take the exit for NH-1A toward New Castle. Follow NH-1A through scenic coastal views, then turn left onto Wild Rose Lane. Continue to Fort Stark State Historic Site, where parking is available. Parking is limited, with additional parking on the 'inner green' on Saturdays. There are no parking fees.

From the Portsmouth Transportation Center, take the bus to the New Castle stop. Walk south on NH-1A, then turn left onto Wild Rose Lane. The site is about a 20-minute walk from the bus stop. Check the bus schedule for limited service. A one-way bus fare is approximately $2-$5.
