Getting There

• Car

  To reach Redden State Forest from Blackbird State Forest by car, start by exiting Blackbird State Forest and heading south on Blackbird Landing Road. Continue for about 4 miles until you reach the intersection with Delaware Route 1 (also known as the Coastal Highway). Turn left onto Route 1 and continue driving for approximately 7 miles. You will then take the exit toward Georgetown and merge onto Route 9. After about 2 miles, turn right onto Redden Road. Follow Redden Road for about 2 miles until you reach the entrance of Redden State Forest. Parking is available on-site, and there are no entrance fees.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, you will need to first take a local bus to Georgetown. From Blackbird State Forest, you can arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to the nearest bus station, which is typically in Smyrna. From Smyrna, take the DART First State bus service to Georgetown. Once in Georgetown, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you the remaining 6 miles to Redden State Forest, as public transportation does not go directly to the forest. Expect to pay bus fare, which is typically around $2, and taxi fare may vary depending on distance.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, you can bike from Blackbird State Forest to Redden State Forest. Start by heading south on Blackbird Landing Road, then connect to Route 1 as described in the car guidance. The route is approximately 13 miles long and will take you through some scenic areas. Be sure to wear a helmet, and consider bringing water and snacks, as there are limited stops along the way. The roads can be busy, so exercise caution, especially on Route 1.
