Car
If you are traveling by car within The Brandywine Valley, head to Route 1. From Wilmington, take Route 1 South and follow the signs toward Dover. Take the exit for Route 13 South toward Delaware City. After about 10 miles, take a right onto Port Penn Road. Continue straight until you reach W Market St, then turn left. The Port Penn Interpretive Center will be on your right at 1 W Market St, Port Penn, DE 19731. Parking is available nearby.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take the DART First State bus service. You can catch the bus from various locations in The Brandywine Valley. Check the DART schedule for bus routes that connect to Route 13 South. Disembark at the stop nearest to Port Penn Road. From there, you may need to walk approximately 1 mile to reach the Port Penn Interpretive Center. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and check the bus schedule for return times.
Bicycle
For those interested in biking, you can enjoy a scenic ride to the Port Penn Interpretive Center. Start from the Brandywine Valley area and head towards Route 9. Follow Route 9 south until you reach Port Penn Road. Turn onto Port Penn Road and continue to W Market St. The center is located at 1 W Market St, Port Penn, DE 19731. Ensure you wear a helmet and follow all traffic rules. Note that there may not be dedicated bike lanes along all routes.
