Liseleje Strand
Liseleje Strand
A forest-fringed nature playground where a mythical Sea Bull, wooden climbing frames and coastal air turn simple playtime into a North Zealand adventure.
Havtyren is a large, imaginative nature playground set in a small coastal forest on the edge of Liseleje, just a short stroll from the sandy North Zealand shoreline. Crafted mainly from timber and inspired by local sea legends, it features swings, slides, balance beams, monkey bars, a zip line and the huge climbable “Sea Bull” sculpture. Families come here to let kids roam between trees and sand, enjoy picnics under shelter, and combine woodland play with a quick escape to the nearby beach and cafés.

Car from Hillerød and North Zealand
Driving from Hillerød to Liseleje typically takes around 30–40 minutes and follows main regional roads through North Zealand. There is a large public car park adjacent to the playground area close to Liseleje Strand, and parking is usually free or low-cost depending on season. In peak summer weekends spaces can fill by late morning, so plan to arrive earlier in the day if you want to park close to the forest and beach.
Train and bus via Frederiksværk
From Copenhagen or Hillerød you can take a regional train toward Frederiksværk or Hundested, with typical total journey times to Frederiksværk around 45–70 minutes depending on connections. From Frederiksværk station, local buses run toward Liseleje with travel times of around 20–30 minutes. A combined train and bus ticket within the Greater Copenhagen fare zones usually costs in the range of 80–120 DKK one way for adults, with reduced prices for children. Services are less frequent in the evening and on weekends, so check departure times in advance.
Cycling from nearby coastal towns
For active travellers staying in nearby coastal towns such as Tisvildeleje or Melby, cycling to Liseleje along local roads and bike-friendly routes is a pleasant option, typically taking 20–45 minutes depending on starting point and fitness. The terrain is mostly gentle with a few small rises as you move through forest and dune landscapes. There is no dedicated bike parking inside the playground area, but you can lock bicycles by the main car park or along nearby fences, taking care not to block access paths.
