Car
From Layou River, head southeast on the main road (Route 1) toward the town of Roseau. Continue on Route 1 for approximately 5 kilometers. When you reach the junction at Bataka, turn left onto the unpaved road. Follow this road for about 1 kilometer, and keep an eye out for the Horseback Ridge signs. The destination will be on your left at the coordinates 15.492621, -61.263247. Parking is available near the entrance.
Public Transportation
Take a minibus from Layou River heading towards Roseau. Ask the driver to drop you off at Bataka. The fare is usually around 3-5 EC dollars. Once you arrive at Bataka, you will need to walk approximately 1 kilometer along the unpaved road leading to Horseback Ridge. Look for signage indicating the direction to the ridge. It's advisable to ask locals for assistance if you are unsure about the route.
Walking
If you are within walking distance in Layou River, you can make your way to Horseback Ridge by heading southeast along Route 1 towards Bataka. This is about a 6-kilometer walk, so it may take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you reach Bataka, follow the unpaved road for approximately 1 kilometer until you see Horseback Ridge on your left. Make sure to wear comfortable footwear and stay hydrated.
