Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Roseau, take a local minibus heading towards Trafalgar. The fare is approximately EC$3-5 per person. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Trafalgar Falls. The minibus will drop you off near the entrance of Paillotte Road. From there, it's a short walk (approximately 15 minutes) along Paillotte Road to the Trafalgar Falls visitor center.

    Taxis are readily available in Roseau. A taxi ride from Roseau to Trafalgar Falls takes approximately 20 minutes. Negotiate the fare before you start your journey. Expect to pay around $20-$40 USD. Several taxi services operate in Roseau, including Tru Taxi Service, Master Taxi & Tours and Dm's Taxi.

  • Driving

    From Roseau, head east on the main road (E.O.L. Highway) towards the village of Trafalgar. After approximately 20 minutes, you will reach Trafalgar. Continue straight along the main road until you reach the end. You will reach a large parking area with some vendor stalls and a visitor center. Parking is available at the visitor center. Parking cost is included in the entrance fee.

Trafalgar Falls, nestled within Dominica's Morne Trois Pitons National Park, presents a mesmerizing spectacle of twin waterfalls cascading down verdant cliffs. Just a 20-minute drive from the capital city of Roseau, these falls, known as the 'Mother' and 'Father', have shaped the island's landscape for centuries. Fed by Dominica's abundant rainfall, the 'Father' fall is the taller of the two, plunging approximately 125 feet, while the 'Mother' fall gracefully cascades at around 75 feet.The journey to the falls is an immersive experience, with a well-maintained path leading through the heart of Dominica's lush rainforest. The trail, suitable for most fitness levels, is approximately 0.3 miles (0.5 km) one way and takes about 10–15 minutes to reach the viewing platform. Along the way, you'll encounter towering trees, exotic flora, and the soothing sounds of the rainforest.From the viewing platform, you can witness the grandeur of the twin falls. For the more adventurous, a guided trek to the base of the falls offers an unforgettable experience, including the opportunity to swim in the refreshing pools beneath the cascades. Be aware that the rocks near the falls can be slippery, so caution is advised. The area is also known for its unique sulphur springs, where warm water trickles alongside cold, creating a unique bathing experience. However, note that the hot water pools along the track to the falls are no longer accessible since they were covered during Hurricane Maria in September 2017.To fully appreciate the beauty and tranquility of Trafalgar Falls, it's best to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon, when the crowds are thinner.
