Walking
From the Northern Link Road, a short 8-minute walk through open farmlands leads to Cold Soufrière. The trail gradually descends into the volcanic crater. Look for the path surrounded by plots of dasheen and other local crops. The ground may be damp and spongy underfoot.
Public Transport
From Roseau or Portsmouth, take a public minibus to Savanne Paille. Bus fares range from EC$1.50 to EC$10.25 depending on the route. From Savanne Paille, follow the walking directions to Cold Soufrière. Ensure the bus is heading towards the Northern Link Road. A one-way ticket on Dominica public transport costs just $0.93.
Taxi
Taxis are available at the airports and in Roseau and can be arranged all over the island. From Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) to the west coast will be $35 to $50 US. Negotiate the price before beginning your journey. The average cost per kilometer is $3.70.
