Discover more about Syndicate Nature Trail

The Syndicate Nature Trail is located within the Morne Diablotin National Park on the western slopes of Morne Diablotin, Dominica's highest mountain. This 2.8-kilometer (1.7 miles) loop trail provides an enchanting and relatively easy way to experience the heart of a tropical rainforest. Constructed in 1993, the trail and Parrot Preserve aim to provide visitors with a genuine rainforest experience. The trail is celebrated for its scenic beauty and ecological significance. It's a prime location for birdwatching, with opportunities to spot many of the 51 species of local and migrant birds found in the park, including the Sisserou Parrot (Amazona imperialis) and the Jaco Parrot (Amazona arausiaca), both endemic to Dominica. The Sisserou Parrot, Dominica's national bird, is featured on the country's coat of arms. As you wander deeper into the rainforest, you'll be captivated by the diverse array of flora. Towering trees with massive buttress roots create a cathedral-like atmosphere, while vibrant orchids and bromeliads cling to the branches. Interpretive signs provide insights into the local ecology and the medicinal properties of various plants. The trail also showcases Syndicate Falls and offers lovely viewpoints along an easy walking path. The Syndicate Nature Trail holds a significant place in Dominica's conservation history. It was temporarily closed after Hurricane Maria in September 2017 but reopened in 2018 after efforts to clear the trail. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a casual nature lover, the Syndicate Nature Trail is a must-visit destination in Dominica.
