From most points within the Zona Colonial, Fortaleza Ozama is easily accessible on foot. Orient yourself towards the eastern edge of the Zona Colonial, near the Ozama River. Calle Las Damas, the oldest paved street in the Americas, runs directly in front of the fortress. Simply walk east along Calle Las Damas; the fortress entrance will be on your left. The walk is generally flat and takes about 5-15 minutes from the central areas of the Zona Colonial, such as Parque Colon. There are no costs associated with walking to the fortress.
