Getting There

  • Car

    Starting from Santiago de los Caballeros, head north on the Autopista Duarte (DR-1) for approximately 40 km. Continue on this highway until you reach the junction with the DR-5, then take the exit towards Puerto Plata. Follow the DR-5 for about 30 km until you reach the coastal town of Puerto Plata. Once in Puerto Plata, follow signs to Playa Acapulco, which is located in Luperon. The beach is approximately 20 minutes from the Puerto Plata city center. Parking is available near the beach, but be cautious of any parking fees.

  • Public Transportation

    From Santiago de los Caballeros, take a bus to Puerto Plata. Buses leave frequently from the local bus terminal and the trip takes approximately 1.5 hours. Upon arriving in Puerto Plata, you can take a local 'carro publico' (shared taxi) to Playa Acapulco. The cost for the bus is around 200 DOP, and the 'carro publico' may cost an additional 100 DOP per person. Be prepared for a short wait for the 'carro publico' to fill up before departing.
