Car
From any location in the Amazon region, head towards the town of Sucumbíos. If you are in the city of Lago Agrio, take the E45 highway which will lead you north. Follow the signs to Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve. The journey will take approximately 2 hours. Once you reach the entrance of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, you will need to pay an entrance fee (approximately $10). After entering the reserve, continue driving on the dirt road until you reach the designated meeting point for Caiman Lodge. Be aware that the road may become challenging during the rainy season.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, take a bus from Lago Agrio to the town of Cuyabeno. Buses leave regularly from the main terminal in Lago Agrio and the fare is around $5. The bus ride takes about 1.5 hours. Once in Cuyabeno, you will need to arrange for a canoe transfer to Caiman Lodge. This can typically be arranged through the lodge at an additional cost (approximately $25). The canoe ride will take around 30 minutes through the beautiful waterways of the Amazon.
Guided Tour
Booking a guided tour that includes transportation is another convenient option. Many tour operators in Lago Agrio offer packages that cover transport from the city to Caiman Lodge, including the entrance fee to the reserve and the canoe transfer.
