Getting there

Car Rental

If you're traveling by car, start in the city of Quito. Head northwest towards the E28 highway. Continue on E28 for approximately 2 hours until you reach the town of Sangolquí. From Sangolquí, take the E20 road towards the town of La Independencia. After about 30 minutes, you will see signs for Mashpi Lodge. Follow the signs to the Mashpi road, which will lead you directly to the lodge. Be aware that the last segment of the drive is on a dirt road, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Parking is available at the lodge.

Public Transportation

If you prefer public transportation, start your journey at the Quitumbe Bus Terminal in Quito. Look for buses heading to the town of Sangolquí. The bus ride will take around 1 hour and will cost approximately $1.50. Once in Sangolquí, transfer to a bus or taxi heading towards La Independencia. This leg of the journey may take an additional 30 minutes and cost about $2-3. From La Independencia, you will need to hire a taxi to take you to Mashpi Lodge, which should cost around $15-20. Ensure you confirm the taxi fare before starting your trip, as prices may vary.

Private Transfer

For a more comfortable option, consider booking a private transfer from Quito to Mashpi Lodge. Various companies offer this service, and prices can range from $100 to $150 depending on the vehicle and the provider. The journey takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. This option allows you to relax and enjoy the scenic views of the Andean Highlands without worrying about public transport schedules.
