From Girón, follow the signs to the Azuay province and continue on the E35 road for about 25 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to Laguna Llaviucu. The lake is about 10 kilometers off the main road, so be prepared for a gravel road that leads to the lake. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for this type of terrain.
Public Transportation
To reach Laguna Llaviucu via public transportation, start by taking a bus from Cuenca to Girón. The buses leave from Terminal Terrestre in Cuenca, and the fare is approximately $1.50. The journey to Girón takes about 30-40 minutes. Once in Girón, you will need to hire a taxi or a local truck (known as 'camioneta') to take you to Laguna Llaviucu. The taxi ride will cost around $10-$15 and will take about 30 minutes to reach the lake.
