Car
From the Coastal Lowlands, take the E28 highway towards Quito. This is a well-maintained road that leads you through beautiful landscapes. After approximately 2 hours of driving, you will reach the town of Latacunga. In Latacunga, follow the signs to the Cotopaxi National Park via the E35 road. Continue on this road for about 30 minutes until you reach the park entrance. Note that there is an entrance fee to the park which is around $10 per vehicle.
Public Transportation
Start by taking a bus from any major town in the Coastal Lowlands to Latacunga. Buses are frequent and can be found at various terminals. The fare is usually around $3-$5 depending on your departure point. Once in Latacunga, you will need to catch a taxi or a local bus that goes to the Cotopaxi National Park entrance. The taxi ride will cost approximately $10-$15, while a local bus may cost around $1. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at the park entrance.
Taxi Service
If you prefer a more comfortable and direct route, consider hiring a taxi service from the Coastal Lowlands directly to Parque Nacional Cotopaxi. You can negotiate a price with the driver, but expect to pay between $60-$80 for a one-way trip. This option is ideal if you are traveling in a group and want to split the cost.
