To reach Cuicocha Lake from central Ibarra, head to the main bus terminal, Terminal Terrestre de Ibarra, located at Av. 17 de Julio. You can take a local bus labeled 'Otavalo' or 'Cuicocha'. Buses typically depart every 30 minutes. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Inform the driver that you wish to get off at Cuicocha Lake. Once you arrive at the Cuicocha Lake entrance, you’ll have a short walk to the lake itself.

If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Ibarra to Cuicocha Lake. You can easily find a taxi by asking at your hotel or flagging one down on the street. The taxi ride will take about 30 minutes, and it’s advisable to negotiate the fare beforehand or ensure the meter is running. Just tell the driver 'Cuicocha Lake' and they will take you directly to the entrance.
