Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from Tena, the capital of the Napo Province. From Tena, take the E45 highway heading south towards Pano. After approximately 10 kilometers, you will reach the town of Pano. Continue on the E45 for another 7 kilometers until you see a sign for Laguna de Mica. Turn right onto the road leading to the lake. The road may be unpaved, so proceed with caution. After about 3 kilometers, you will reach the entrance to Laguna de Mica. Parking is available near the lake, but it is advisable to check if there are any fees for parking upon arrival.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Laguna de Mica via public transportation, start at the Tena bus terminal. Look for buses heading towards Pano; these typically run every hour. The journey to Pano takes about 30 minutes and costs around $1. After arriving in Pano, you can hire a local taxi or arrange for a shared taxi to take you to Laguna de Mica. The taxi ride will take about 15-20 minutes and should cost around $5 per person, depending on the number of passengers. Confirm the fare before starting your journey. Alternatively, inquire with locals about any possible shuttle services that may operate directly to Laguna de Mica.

• Hiking

  For the adventurous, consider hiking to Laguna de Mica from Pano. This route is approximately 10 kilometers and takes around 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Start by taking the E45 highway out of Pano and look for a marked trailhead on your right. The hike is scenic but be prepared for some steep sections. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry enough water. This option is free, aside from any costs incurred to reach Pano.
