Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Baeza in the Napo Region. Head south on the E28 highway, following signs for Cotopaxi National Park. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will reach a junction where you will need to take the road leading to Cotopaxi National Park. Continue on this road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the entrance of the park. There may be an entrance fee, which can vary, so be prepared to pay. Once inside, follow the signs toward Refugio Cotopaxi (Jose Ribas), which is located at an elevation of about 4,800 meters. The last few kilometers to the refugio may require a 4x4 vehicle due to rough terrain.

For those using public transportation, take a bus from Baeza to Latacunga. Buses leave frequently and the journey takes about 2 hours. Once in Latacunga, you will need to catch a taxi or a local bus that goes to the entrance of Cotopaxi National Park. Confirm with the driver that they will take you to the park entrance. At the park entrance, there may be an entrance fee. After entering the park, you can arrange for a local taxi or shuttle service to take you directly to Refugio Cotopaxi (Jose Ribas). Make sure to confirm the cost of the taxi in advance, as it may vary.
