Walking
From the center of Puerto Ayora, begin your journey by heading towards the main dock area. Follow Avenida Charles Darwin towards the waterfront. Once you reach the dock, look for signs directing you to the 'Puerto Ayora – Tortuga Bay' trail. This scenic route will lead you through a beautiful area filled with local flora and fauna. After about 30 minutes of walking, you will arrive at the entrance to Tortuga Bay, which is part of the Galapagos National Park. Please note, there is an entrance fee for the park which you can pay at the visitor center.
Bicycle
If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops located throughout Puerto Ayora. Start your ride by heading towards the main dock on Avenida Charles Darwin. Continue along the road until you reach the Tortuga Bay entrance. The ride is approximately 15-20 minutes, and you will enjoy beautiful views along the way. Remember to secure your bike at the entrance and pay the entrance fee to access the park.
Guided Tour
For a more immersive experience, consider joining a guided tour. Many local tour operators in Puerto Ayora offer packages that include transportation to various points in the Galapagos National Park, including Parque Nacional Galapagos. You can book a tour at your hotel or from one of the tour agencies along Avenida Charles Darwin. The tour guide will provide all necessary transportation and information about the park, making your visit both convenient and informative.
