Walking
Independence Square is located in the heart of Quito's historic center, making it easily accessible on foot from many nearby attractions. From the San Francisco Church, head east along Calle Sucre, then turn right onto Calle García Moreno. The square will be on your left. The walk is approximately 5-10 minutes.
Public Transport
The Quito Metro's 'San Francisco' station is a short walk from Independence Square. From the station, walk north along Calle Benalcázar, then turn left onto Calle Chile. The square will be on your right. Alternatively, take the Trolebús to the 'Estación Marín Central' stop. From there, walk north along Calle Flores, then turn right onto Calle Chile. The square will be on your left. The Trolebús fare is $0.35.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available throughout Quito. A short taxi ride to Independence Square from the New Town or other parts of the historic center typically costs between $2 and $5. Ensure the driver uses the meter or agree on a fare beforehand. Ride-sharing apps like Uber and Cabify are also available.
