Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Chugchilán. Head south on the E28 road towards Isinlivi. After approximately 6 kilometers, look for a sign indicating Cañon Del Toachi. Take the road towards the canyon, which will lead you through scenic landscapes. Be prepared for some rough patches in the road, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Park at the designated area near the viewpoint and enjoy the stunning views of the canyon.
Public Transportation
To reach Cañon Del Toachi using public transportation, first take a bus or shared taxi from the main bus terminal in Chugchilán towards Isinlivi. The fare is usually around $1.50. Once you arrive in Isinlivi, you will need to walk about 2 kilometers south to reach the entrance to Cañon Del Toachi. Look for signs along the way, as it is a popular hiking destination. Be sure to ask locals for directions if you're unsure.
Hiking
If you are feeling adventurous, consider hiking to Cañon Del Toachi from Chugchilán. The hike takes about 2-3 hours and covers approximately 7 kilometers. Start at the center of Chugchilán, following the signs to the canyon. The trail is well-marked but can be steep in places. Bring plenty of water and snacks, as there are no facilities along the way.
