Independence Square is located in the heart of Quito's historic center and is easily accessible on foot from many nearby points of interest. From the San Francisco Church, head east for about 5 blocks along Calle Sucre, then turn right onto Calle García Moreno. The Plaza will be on your left.
Public Transport
The 'San Francisco' station on the Quito Metro is a short walk from Independence Square. Alternatively, the Trolebus and Ecovia bus lines have stops near the historic center. Get off at a central stop and walk a few blocks. Bus fares are approximately $0.25 - $0.45.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available in Quito. Ask your hotel or any secure location to call a taxi for you. A short taxi ride within the city center typically costs $1.50 - $5. Ensure the driver uses the taximeter or negotiate the fare beforehand. Ride-hailing apps like Uber and DiDi are also available.
