Car
If you're driving from Upper Egypt, take the desert road (Cairo-Aswan Road) north towards Cairo. Follow the signs towards Cairo city center. Upon approaching Cairo, merge onto the Ring Road which leads to the city. As you near downtown Cairo, look for signs directing you to El-Tahrir Square. The Egyptian Museum is located at El-Tahrir Square in Qasr El Nil. Be aware of potential traffic congestion as you enter the city. Parking is available near the museum, but expect to pay a parking fee of around 10-20 EGP.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From Upper Egypt, take a long-distance bus (like Go Bus or Super Jet) to Cairo. Buses generally depart from major cities like Luxor or Aswan. Once you arrive at the Cairo Bus Station (such as Turgoman or El-Mohandiseen), you can take a taxi or a local bus to El-Tahrir Square. Buses within Cairo typically cost about 5-10 EGP, while a taxi from the bus station to the museum may cost around 30-50 EGP depending on traffic.
Train
Traveling by train is another efficient option. Board a train from Luxor or Aswan to Cairo. Trains arrive at Ramses Station in Cairo. From Ramses Station, you can take a taxi directly to the Egyptian Museum. The taxi fare will be roughly 30-50 EGP. Alternatively, you can take the Metro from Ramses Station to Sadat Station, which is close to El-Tahrir Square. Metro tickets cost around 5 EGP.
