If you are driving, start from the nearest major town, Assab. Head south on the main road for approximately 40 kilometers. Look for signs directing you towards Elabered. Once you reach Elabered, head towards the coordinates PMXX+FX2. The monastery is located about 5 kilometers from the center of Elabered, and you will see signs directing you to Mariam Debresina Monastery as you get closer.
Public Transportation
To reach the Mariam Debresina Monastery using public transportation, take a minibus from Assab heading towards Elabered. The fare is approximately 10-15 Nakfa. Once you arrive in Elabered, you can take a local taxi for about 50 Nakfa to the monastery. Make sure to confirm the taxi driver knows the location of Mariam Debresina Monastery before starting your journey.
Walking
If you are already in Elabered and prefer to walk, you can head towards the coordinates PMXX+FX2. The monastery is located about a 1-hour walk from the center of Elabered.
