Private Car
If you're traveling by private car, start your journey from the city of Barentu, the capital of the Gash-Barka Region. From Barentu, take the main road heading northeast towards Halhal. The drive is approximately 25 kilometers and should take around 30 minutes, depending on road conditions. As you approach Halhal, keep an eye out for the signs indicating Galay. Once you reach Halhal, use a GPS device to navigate to the coordinates W79R+R3, or follow local signposts to Galay.
Public Transportation
To reach Galay via public transportation, first, make your way to the central bus station in Barentu. Look for minibusses or shared taxis heading towards Halhal. The fare is usually around 30-50 Nakfa, and the journey will take about 45 minutes, depending on how long it takes to fill the vehicle. Once you arrive in Halhal, you can either walk or hire a local taxi to take you the remaining distance to Galay. It's advisable to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.
Walking from Halhal
If you prefer to walk from Halhal to Galay, it's a distance of about 5 kilometers. Head northeast out of Halhal on the main road, following the route towards the coordinates W79R+R3. The walk is enjoyable, offering scenic views of the region. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, especially if you choose to travel during the warmer parts of the day.
