Car
If you are driving from Asmara, head southeast on the main road (A2) towards Nefasit. Continue along this road for approximately 20 kilometers. Look for signs directing you towards Nefasit. As you approach Nefasit, take a left turn onto the road leading directly to Debre Bizen, which is approximately 5 kilometers from the main road. Be cautious of the road conditions, as some sections may be unpaved or uneven. Parking is available near the monastery.
Public Transportation
To reach Debre Bizen by public transportation, take a minibus from Asmara to Nefasit. The minibuses typically depart from the central bus station in Asmara and cost around 10 Nakfa. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Nefasit, you can hire a local taxi or arrange for a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you the remaining 5 kilometers to Debre Bizen. Expect to pay around 50-100 Nakfa for the taxi or boda-boda ride. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting your journey.
