Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Tartu. Head southeast on the E263 road towards Võru. Continue for about 30 km until you reach the town of Elva. From Elva, take the road towards Ockelbo (local road 54) and continue for approximately 10 km. Look for signs directing you to Piirissaar. The last stretch will require you to park at a designated area near the lakeside, as the island is not accessible by car. From the parking area, you can walk to the ferry terminal.

To reach Piirissaar using public transport, take a bus from Tartu to Elva. Buses are frequent and the journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once in Elva, you will need to transfer to a local bus heading towards Ockelbo. After arriving in Ockelbo, you will need to follow the signs to the ferry terminal. Please note that you may have to walk about 1 km from the bus stop to the ferry terminal. The ferry ride to Piirissaar takes about 15 minutes, and a ticket costs around 5 euros.
