Car
If you're traveling by car, head towards the Lahemaa National Park from any location within Lääne-Viru County. The park is located approximately 70 kilometers east of Tallinn. From the center of Rakvere, take the E20 highway heading towards Tallinn. After about 30 kilometers, take the exit towards the Aavoja road (Tallinna mnt). Continue straight for about 10 kilometers, following the signs for Lahemaa National Park. You will arrive at the park entrance, where parking is available. Be mindful of parking fees which may apply.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Rakvere to Tallinn. Buses depart regularly from the Rakvere bus station. Once you reach Tallinn, transfer to a bus that goes to Viinistu or Altja, as these routes pass through Lahemaa National Park. The bus journey from Rakvere to Tallinn takes about 1 hour, followed by another 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the park. Ensure to check the bus schedules in advance as services may vary. The bus fare is typically around €5-10, depending on your route.

Bicycle
For the more adventurous traveler, consider cycling to Lahemaa National Park. Starting from Rakvere, you can take the scenic back roads through the countryside. The ride is approximately 50 kilometers and can take around 3-4 hours depending on your pace. Make sure to follow the signs towards Lahemaa National Park, and be prepared for some hills along the way. Bring plenty of water and snacks, as there may not be many stops along the route.
