If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Lahemaa National Park, such as from the visitor center in Altja. Drive south on the local roads towards the town of Tabasalu. Follow the signs towards Tabasalu, which will lead you to the main road, Tallinn-Narva Road (E20). Once on E20, take the exit towards Tabasalu and continue into the town. Look for signs indicating the Tabasalu trail, and you can park nearby. Be aware of possible parking fees in designated areas.

For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Lahemaa to Tallinn. Buses frequently run from various points in Lahemaa to Tallinn. Once you arrive in Tallinn, head to the bus station (Tallinna Bussijaam) and look for a bus that heads to Tabasalu. The bus ride is approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Tabasalu, follow the local signage to find the trailhead for the Tabasalu trail. Note that bus fares will apply, so be sure to check the current rates.

If you prefer to cycle, rent a bicycle from a local shop in Lahemaa. From the visitor center, head south towards the main road, following local bike paths. The ride to Tabasalu is approximately 20 kilometers and will take about 1-2 hours depending on your cycling speed. Ensure you have a map or GPS device as some parts may not be well-marked. Once you reach Tabasalu, follow the signs to the trailhead. Remember to wear a helmet and follow traffic rules.
