Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the center of Viljandi. Head southeast on Koidula Street (Koidula tn) towards Rüütli Street (Rüütli tn). Continue onto Tallinn Street (Tallinna tn) and then take the second exit at the roundabout onto Tartu Road (Tartu mnt). Follow this road for about 20 kilometers until you reach the town of Helme. Once in Helme, look for signs directing you to Helme Caves. There is parking available near the caves.
Public Transportation
To reach Helme Caves via public transportation, take a bus from Viljandi Bus Station to Valga. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Valga, transfer to a local bus heading towards Helme. Ensure to check the schedule in advance as bus frequencies may vary. The local bus should drop you off near Helme village. From there, it's a short walk (about 1 km) to the caves, following signs or asking locals for directions.
Walking
If you are already in the village of Helme, you can walk to Helme Caves. From the center of Helme, head east on Helme Street (Helme tn). Continue straight until you see signs for Helme Caves. The walk is approximately 1 km and will take around 15-20 minutes. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, as some paths may be uneven.
