Getting There

  • Car

    From the center of Highveld, head southeast on the N17 road towards the N3. Continue on the N3 for approximately 20 km until you reach the turnoff for the R40. Take the R40 exit towards Barberton. Follow the R40 for about 40 km until you see signs for Malolotja National Park. Turn left onto the Malolotja Road and continue for another 15 km. You will find the entrance to Malolotja National Park on your right. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition as some parts of the road may be unpaved.

  • Public Transportation

    Start by taking a local taxi or minibus from Highveld to Mbabane, which usually costs around E20-30. Once in Mbabane, you will need to transfer to another taxi or minibus heading towards Forbes Reef. It's advisable to ask locals for the most current taxi routes, as they may vary. The fare from Mbabane to Forbes Reef will be approximately E50. From the drop-off point in Forbes Reef, you can either walk about 2 km to the park entrance or arrange for a local taxi for a small fee.

  • Bicycle

    For the adventurous, cycling to Malolotja National Park is an option. Start from Highveld and take the N17 road towards the N3, then follow the same route as cars. It’s about a 60 km ride and will take several hours. Make sure to bring enough water and snacks, as there are few places to stop along the way. The last stretch on Malolotja Road is scenic but can be challenging due to its unpaved sections. There are no entry fees for bicycles, but ensure your bike is properly maintained for the journey.
