Car
To reach Malolotja Falls by car, start from Mbabane, the capital city of Eswatini. Head northwest on the MR3 road towards the Mdzimba mountains. Continue on MR3 for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the junction with the MR1 road. Turn right onto MR1 and drive for another 10 kilometers. Look for the signs for Malolotja Nature Reserve. The reserve entrance is marked, and you will need to pay an entrance fee of about 50 Emaswati (SZL) per person. Once inside the reserve, follow the signs to Malolotja Falls, which is approximately a 15-minute drive from the entrance. Ensure you have a map or GPS navigation for precise directions, as some roads may not be well marked.
Public Transport
If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Mbabane to Nkhaba. Buses leave regularly from the Mbabane bus rank. The fare is approximately 20 Emaswati (SZL). Once in Nkhaba, you will need to hire a taxi to take you to Malolotja Nature Reserve, which will cost around 100 Emaswati (SZL). Make sure to tell the taxi driver you want to go to Malolotja Falls. Upon arriving at the reserve, you will need to pay the entrance fee of about 50 Emaswati (SZL) per person. After entering the reserve, you can either walk to the falls or ask for guidance at the reception.
Walking
For the adventurous, if you are already inside the Malolotja Nature Reserve, you can hike to Malolotja Falls. There are marked trails leading to the falls, which offer scenic views of the surrounding landscape. Ensure you have proper hiking shoes and plenty of water, as the hike can take about 30-45 minutes depending on your pace. Follow the signs along the trail, and keep an eye out for wildlife and local flora along the way.
