Getting There

  • Public Transport - Minibus

    Begin your journey at the Meskel Square in central Addis Ababa, a major hub for public transport. Look for a minibus heading towards the town of Bishoftu (also known as Debre Zeit). Once you board, confirm with the driver that they are going to Bishoftu. The fare is typically around 50 to 100 Ethiopian Birr. The journey will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions.

  • Walking from Bishoftu Town

    Once you arrive at Bishoftu, alight at the main bus terminal. From there, you can either walk or take a local taxi to get closer to Yerer Mountain. If walking, head southeast on the main road (Bishoftu Road) for about 3 kilometers until you reach the base of Yerer Mountain. This walk will take around 30 to 40 minutes. You will see signs directing you to the mountain as you approach the area.
